Share printers (and some other devices,
like scanners) – Do you have a photo printer attached to
one PC, and a high-quality laser printer attached to another? Sharing
the printers allows you to print to any printer from any PC. If you print
a lot of different types of things, you might have one printer loaded
with envelopes, say, and another with letterhead paper (or one with legal
paper and another with letter-size), for example, to save the hassle of
changing the paper for every different print job!
Share files – Does more
than one person need to work on a document or spreadsheet? No need to
copy the file back and forth via floppy, you simply put the file in a
“shared documents” folder (or other shared location) and all
the PCs in the network can have access to it! Or, place the favorite family
photographs in a shared location to be enjoyed by all.
